2017 - 2018 Officers
After completing undergraduate studies in Economics and Poverty Studies at Washington & Lee University, Kali joined Teach for America. She spent two years as an elementary special education teacher in Washington, D.C. and then joined DC Public Schools staff as a mediator, strengthening relationships between teachers, school administrators, and families. A native of Norfolk, Va, Kali enjoys going to the beach, dad jokes, traveling (she is a devoted disciple of Rick Steves’ travel guides), hiking, and being one of the last remaining watchers of Grey’s Anatomy. She spent her summer back in D.C. with The Boston Consulting Group.
Vice president, events:
Prior to Darden, Katherine worked as a Business Development Manager in Lilly Pulitzer’s wholesale division. Katherine earned a B.A. in American Studies from the University of Virginia in 2011 and a M.S. in Commerce from the University ofVirginia’s McIntire School of Commerce the following year. This summer she will intern at Parthenon-EY in Boston. In her free time Katherine enjoys yoga and spin classes.
Vice president, events:
Before coming to Darden, Trapti spent last 4 years in Mumbai, India where she worked at Deutsche Bank in Equities and Prime Finance businesses. She studied Chemical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi at some point, but doesn’t remember much of it. She enjoys exploring restaurants in Charlottesville and loves travelling, scuba diving and motor biking. She would spent her summer at McKinsey, Dallas.
Vice president, education:
Frances Fu is originally from Shanghai, China, and has lived and studied on three continents. Prior to Darden, Frances earned an undergraduate degree in International Economics at the University of International Relations in Beijing, China, then spent 5 years working at an education startup in North Carolina advising public universities on their global strategies. This summer, Frances will be interning at McKinsey’s Houston office. During weekends and breaks, you can find Frances hiking in the beautiful mountains around Charlottesville.
Vice president, education:
Marcus Nelson graduated from Ohio State University in 2010 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to Darden, he worked for Schlumberger in the upstream oil and gas industry. As a field engineer, he managed drilling operations on oil and gas exploration and production rigs. He developed a passion for travel after working in various international locations, including Russia, U.A.E., Kuwait, and Nicaragua. When not on Darden’s grounds, you can probably find Marcus playing golf at Birdwood or visiting his girlfriend in Nashville, TN. Marcus will be joining McKinsey & Company as a Summer Associate in Houston, Texas.
Vice president, fundraising:
Charlie Goelz is originally from Westport, CT and came to Darden after spending the last six years in Washington, DC. Before Darden, Charlie worked for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, in a variety of roles focused on high dollar fundraising and political consulting. Previously, Charlie attended the University of Michigan where he received his BA in Economics & Political Science (Go Blue!). Outside of school, Charlie enjoys exploring both Charlottesville and southern Virginia with his partner Andrés and their puppy Chico. Charlie will be interning at The Boston Consulting Group in DC this summer.
Vice president, recruiting:
Prior to Darden, Katie worked as a Senior Consultant with Navigant Consulting in the Washington DC office in its International Arbitration practice. Katie graduated from the University of Virginia with majors in Commerce and Economics. This summer Katie will be interning with Deloitte Consulting in New York City. In her free time, she enjoys playing golf and cooking.
Vice president, international:
I am from India and spent the last three years working with an Investment Analytics firm before coming to Darden. I studied Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology – Kharagpur, but always wondered if I remember any of it. Creating digital comics is one of my favorite things to do and I am a huge fan of zen pencils. I love exploring vineyards and the food scene, in and around Charlottesville. I will be spending the summer at McKinsey, Atlanta.
Vice president, finance:
Before coming to Darden, Tyler spent four years at Mangham Associates, an investment office for endowments and foundations in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he managed several large client relationships. He also served as an analyst for the investment portfolio, specifically focusing on managing the public equity and hedge fund allocations. Tyler earned undergraduate degrees in Leadership Studies and Finance from the University of Richmond, and was also a member of the Spiders’ 2008 National Championship football team. Tyler and his wife Lindsey have loved living in Charlottesville for the past five years, and especially enjoy all of the restaurants and wineries the area has to offer. Tyler spent his summer at Walmart working in logistics strategy.
Vice president, technology:
Prior to Darden, Ross spent six years at Semler Brossy Consulting Group, an executive compensation consulting firm in Los Angeles. At Semler Brossy, Ross worked with the boards of several major companies and learned how pay design affects organizational priorities. Ross graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Industrial and Labor Relations. In his free time, Ross enjoys dining out, pilates classes, beaches, and collecting plaid shirts. He is also a die-hard Washington Capitals fan. Ross spent his summer at PwC in San Francisco, working with technology companies undergoing mergers and acquisitions.
